Minor League Players Going Back to School!
BRIDGEPORT, CT- In its third year of existence, the Armstrong Sports Management Quarterback School has again reinvented itself and has become a must for area signal callers.
“It’s a great time for me first of all” said ASM owner Bernie Armstrong, “the guys we bring in are eager to learn and work really hard throughout the sessions.” The unique part of the Quarterback School is Armstrong wide range of students. “The camp started and will always focus on the youth and their desire to get better at the quarterback position; however, for the last two years we’ve put a little twist into my sessions.” Armstrong has recently offered his school to Minor League football players throughout New England and the tri-state area. “I came to realize that the Minor League player had no resources to get better or receiving quality instruction in the offseason. At this level very few teams have a true quarterback coach so the player must rely on knowledge he acquired from either college or in some cases high school; our school provides them an opportunity to work on their fundamentals in a controlled environments which I feel clearly prepares them for their respected season.”
Last season New York Falcon’s longtime quarterback Cliff Providence attended the two day quarterback school hoping to give him an advantage going into his final season as a minor league player. “This was the first time since college I actually had somebody work directly with me, ASM worked on my mechanics, my drops, and just made me more comfortable as a quarterback going into the season.” Providence proceeded to have one of the strongest years of his careers and led the Falcons to the Five Star Football League championship.
A former standout at Danbury High School, Armstrong continued his career at the University of Maryland and played numerous years at the minor league level.“I enjoy working with the adult players” said Armstrong, “they have been very open-minded and easy to work with; I look forward to having them back next year.”
